Light Therapy helps reduce symptoms of Depression
According to a recent study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, people with Bipolar I & II have been shown to reduce their symptoms of depression when exposed to midday light therapy. Patients in the study began with 15 minutes of light therapy between the hours of Noon and 2:30 PM. They gradually increased the exposure to 60 minutes per day. After a 4 week period, the patients showed an improvement in symptoms of depression without increasing manic symptoms. This could have a positive impact on people to reduce depression with the coming months of increased darkness in our area.
